Microblading &Micropigmentation

Changes coming to Semi Permanent Makeup and Microblading

There have been discussions about this industry and qualifications changing for the VTCT Level 4 Qualification. In 2016 the HEE (Health Education England) produced standards across a range of treatments in the industry that are unregulated. A directive has now been implemented for insurers and licensing officers to request. It is hoped that by September practitioners are expected to work to the standards set which means a level 4 is required. This means the education and the practice of Permanent Makeup and Microblading will be a Level 4 with initiatives that deliver high standards of practice throughout the industry. It is likely that insurance companies and local licensing officers will start to follow these guidelines soon. Some locations already are requesting this level.

Practitioners already qualified in these treatments will have to upskill to a level 4 when they next renew their insurance

Eyebrow microblading is performed by a manual deposit of pigment under the top layer of the skin by a hand held tool. It does not involve using a machine unlike permanent make up. Microblading technique involves drawing individual crisp hair strokes that are more natural looking. The blade or a microblading pen is three times thinner than needles used for tattooing.
